The started out cold and wet. To the north of us there were some large thunderstorms. It was 68 degrees this morning when we started out the journey. When we finished it was 98. Rhe winds were gusting up to 30 mph. We were fornuate the wind was northeast. We had a side wind all day. We needed to point our front tire into the wind all dayif we has a sail I am sure we could have really made great time.
Today we met a lady from new mexico riding around the country. She started in carlsbad and rode to the west coast then rodw to seattle and ia now headed to the east coast. We met a fellow canoing down the missouri river he is waiting for the winds to die down ao he can get going again. We met a younf lady who rode her motorcycle from arkansas for her class reunion, ans we met a guy riding the lewis and clark trail then headed to Philadelphia. There are lots of interesting stories if you stop and listen.
We are camped near rhe missouri river in Chamberlin. Jeneca is studing for her test and I am relaxing. Jeneca is nursing a sore knee. We stopped early in hopes of it getting better.
Last night we were rudely awaken at 3.45 by a thunderstorm. The drops of rain were coming thur the tent mess as we did not have the rain fly on. Jeneca jumpes into action brought in our cell phones and tossed on the rain fly. The night was saved and we stayed dry the rest of the night. It stormed the rest of night, lightening and thunder.
I might mention the wind today was so strong the corn was bending over.
Tomorrow we are hoping to get in some good miles the last four days has been 104, 94, 89, 52. We are more then half way home but we really need to finish strong.
